The mobile cover needs to be stable enough to resist being moved by high winds, and permit enough air flow beneath the covers to keep the pitch from getting moist and damp. At Stuart Canvas Products we have designed the mobile pitch cover with glav steel hoops in order to keep the unit stable (it lowers the centre of gravity) and making it lighter than the previous model to aid maneuverability, which is also helped by the use of 2 fixed and 2 swivel wheels at either end of each section.

The frame is made from mild steel for extra strength and durability and has an integral gutter system for added strength and more efficient dispersal of water through its excellent system of pipes and hoses. Each section is 25ft long by 12ft wide giving a total coverage of 75ft x 12ft. which is ideal for most grades of cricket. The cover itself, which is placed over the extruded rods, is made from UV stabilised white PVC and each cover top is extended to create an overlap between sections and has bungee cord to tie to the hooks to make a watertight seal. The whole unit has been designed to allow side sheets and/or bowlers run-ups to be attached, thereby creating an effective covering system for the immediate playing area.
